The Friends Spring Book Sale will take place Monday, April 18 through Saturday, April 23 in the Rogers Room of the Forest Grove City Library, 2114 Pacific Avenue in Forest Grove.
Sale Hours are coordinated with Library open hours: Monday, April 18, 10-8, Tuesday, April 19, 10-8, Wednesday, April 20, 10-8 Thursday, April 21, 10-5 Friday, April 22, 10-5 Saturday, April 23, 10-3
Books, videos, CDs, vinyl records…all priced to sell! Tables will be restocked every day.
Membership has its privileges!
On Saturday, April 23 (10:00-3:00), current members may fill a standard grocery bag with books and pay just $5 for the bag full. This benefit is similar to the bag full sales of the past BUT current Friends membership is required.
Your library card does not make you a member of Friends of the Library. Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization that has been helping the Forest Grove Library since 1973. You need to sign up for Friends membership and pay for your annual membership fee. Your membership year will begin when you pay your dues. If you purchased or renewed your membership at the fall book sale (October, 2015) your membership will be valid for this sale in April. More than 40 people joined Friends at the last sale.
Memberships can be purchased or renewed at the door of the book sale. Dues were increased, for the first time in decades, in July, 2015. Individual one-year memberships are now $10, Family memberships $20, Contributing memberships $35 and Sustaining memberships $100. Dealer Alert: Friends volunteers have carefully combed through donations and library discards, looking for items that Friends can sell online. Books and other media that we think we can sell online for $8 or more won’t be on sale at this twice-a-year on-site book sale.
You can help: As always, we have several volunteer opportunities. More than seventy peopled helped with the sale in October.
- We need help with set-up and take-down. Strong backs and willing hearts are needed to move boxes of books from two rooms in the Library to the Rogers Room on Tuesday, April 12 between 3:00 and 7:00.
- Volunteers are also needed to put books on shelves and tables before the sale, during the day, April 12-15.
- Another vital job is taking two-hour shifts cashiering during the days of the sale.
- A final, big effort is required after 3:00 on Saturday, April 23. The remaining books have to be boxed and the room cleaned up after the sale.
Those who help with set-up, “minding the store” and clean-up get to take two free books for their efforts, and all book sale volunteers are invited to join us for a Dutch treat dinner after clean-up is completed on Saturday.

And of course, we welcome book donations any time! Please bring books that are in good condition to the Library. Library staff tells us that Wednesday evenings are the best time to bring books to the Library.
