Once again, Maggie Pike, proprietress of Maggie’s Buns, will cook up another dinner to benefit the Forest Grove Library Foundation. The event will be held at the United Church of Christ, 21st Avenue and College Way in Forest Grove, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on February 5.
Tickets can be purchased at the Forest Grove City Library, 2114 Pacific Avenue; $12 for adults, $6 for children ten years old or younger. A limited number of tickets will be sold: get yours soon!
The menu, prepared and provided by Maggie, includes lasagna (with a vegetarian option), salad, bread and dessert. Coffee will be donated by BJ’s Coffee.
The Library Foundation funded the recently completed Mollie’s Garden glass art installation a the Library: watch for a dedication ceremony in early Spring. Funds raised at this dinner event will go toward completion of the Foundation’s ambitious capital plan. More furniture and equipment are planned for the children’s area of the Library as well as end panels for the adult collection shelving.
A report from Colleen Winters, FG Library Director, about the fundraising dinner that was held October 27 at the UCC church:
Last night’s event was a huge success by any definition. We took in $2,190 in ticket sales and donations. We served approximately 155 people. Many people commented as they were leaving on what a lovely event it was….the food, the ambience and all those library supporters.
The event proceeds will go toward the FG Library Foundation’s capital campaign. The goal of the campaign is to raise $250,000 for furniture and equipment for the Library. See more about this campaign at the Foundation website.
Lots of card carrying Friends of the Library attended. We thank all the volunteers who helped and especially the owner and staff of Maggie’s Buns for their work and donation of food. Every library needs a Foundation, too!
